PAJUNK® before the Corporate Carbon Footprint Analysis

PAJUNK® is a leading medical technology company from Geisingen in southern Germany. Since its founding in 1965, PAJUNK® has specialized in the development of high-precision instruments for regional anesthesia and pain therapy. Known for innovations such as the atraumatic SPROTTE® cannula, the company offers a broad product range that meets the modern requirements of the medical industry.

The Challenge with the Corporate Carbon Footprint

To structure their sustainability efforts, PAJUNK® commissioned us to develop a concept for reducing CO₂ emissions. The collaboration with Procycons was intended to help gain an overview of all relevant emission sources, define concrete sustainability measures, and improve the communication of their environmental goals.

Implementation of the Corporate Carbon Footprint

To provide a stable basis for decision-making for PAJUNK®, we created a GUTcert-verified Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. The base year for this analysis was 2022, which allows for a detailed tracking of future emission developments. In addition, we conducted a scenario analysis to model possible future developments and assess the impact of decarbonization measures.

An examination of the company’s competitors and an internal PESTEL analysis helped to better locate PAJUNK®’s market position in the area of sustainability and to align the strategy with the company values. We also conducted an employee survey to capture current commuting habits as well as views and ideas on sustainability at PAJUNK®. The results emphasized the importance of communication with employees from all areas of the company.

In addition, we surveyed the suppliers to learn more about the purchased products and raw materials as well as their commitment to environmental protection. This survey proved to be challenging, as the feedback was sometimes delayed or unusable. This highlighted the need to collect information about purchased goods in alternative ways in the future.

All these collected findings resulted in a comprehensive decarbonization strategy that can support PAJUNK® as a guide for a lower-emission economy.

The Corporate Carbon Footprint provided PAJUNK® with a precise overview of their current emissions and identified relevant areas for optimization. The analyses carried out, from the scenario analysis to the market review, ensured that the proposed measures are both realistic and effective. As a result, PAJUNK® received a well-founded basis for efficiently implementing the sustainability strategy and being perceived as an ecologically responsible company.
